Introduction

.

As an avid cross-stitcher, for more years than I care to remember, I have been constantly searching for unique and challenging patterns to stitch and to add to my collection.

I have created this site for the beginner and advanced stitcher who share my passion for producing works of art in cross-stitch.

I would like to point out at this time that none of this would have come about had it not been for a very special lady, Charlene Davidow. She is Mom to me and has always been there for me when I needed advice or an opinion on something. She has helped me much the same way my sister did by encouraging me to carry on and learn as much as I can about stitching and in a lot of ways is my motivation as well as my inspiration, and without her encouragement and guidance none of this would have been possible.

For those of you that are just beginning to do cross-stitch I welcome you to one of the most fascinating and rewarding art forms imaginable. It affords the opportunity of not only creating precious works of art with a needle and thread but also heirlooms that can be passed down from generation to generation. Stitching does not require any artistic talents at all, in fact, anyone can do cross-stitch and the only difference between a beginner and advanced stitcher is experience, which is acquired through continually trying new and challenging patterns.

I have learned through experience that often times it is less frustrating to work with a larger pattern, when learning to do cross-stitch, than a smaller one. The areas of color in the larger patterns make them easier to stitch than the smaller ones due to the fact that the smaller patterns have to put more symbols into a smaller space in order to achieve the detail. This can sometimes make the piece very frustrating to work on because of the frequent thread changes.

Another advantage to cross-stitch is that it can be the source of a fantastic collection much like stamp collecting, covering a wide range of subjects that can be researched and studied if one so desires.

I will be upgrading my site constantly and would like to make it as interactive as I possibly can, and therefore I would welcome an E-Mail with any comment, questions or suggestions you might have and I will endeavour to answer all questions personally. I will also have a page with all of the questions submitted and the answers to them so that they will be available to everyone.

Once again thank you for stopping by and I hope you will come back often to see the many new and interesting changes to come in the near future.

Sincerely

John Barregar
